June 2008	Yong Chen, Ph.D. has joined the lab as a postdoctoral fellow. Yong received his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis . Welcome, Yong!
	Congratulations to Wen Li and his wife, Xuan Liu , on their first baby girl, Isabella Liu Li !!! Isabella was born on June 3rd, 2008. She is a big girl, 8 pound 3 ounce.
	Jia Zhong 's manuscript on “Characterization of three-dimensional myocardial deformation in the mouse heart: an MRI tagging study” was published in June's issue of the Journal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (pdf).
May 2008	Fang Bian was awarded the postdoctoral fellowship by the American Heart Association (AHA). Fang is the 4 th AHA fellow from the lab. Previous AHA fellows are: Wei Liu (predoctoral, 2002-2004), Junjie Chen (predoctoral, 2003-2005), and Jia Zhong (predoctoral, 2006-2008).
	Ming Lu 's manuscript on “Role of the malate-aspartate shuttle on the metabolic response to myocardial ischemia” was accepted by the Journal of Theoretical Biology.
	A total of 5 abstracts were presented at the annual ISMRM meeting in Toronto by Jia Zhong , Ming Lu , Wei Li , and Wen Li . All of them received student stipend award.
April 2008	Dr. Yu received the Research Award from Case School of Engineering.
