Biomedical Engineer: A Multidisciplinary Problem Solver
Dennis Nelson, Ph.D. (CWRU 1975)

The engineer needs to communicate with medical personnel and observe typical clinical practice to identify areas where technology can improve patient care. In many instances medical personnel do not realize the impact that technology can have. The engineer needs to understand standard clinical decision making procedures which typically include multiple medical disciplines. In many cases the engineer must relate the technical cost vs. the clinical benefit. I will present opportunities I have had to impact patient care in both the hospital and business settings.
Host: Professor David Wilson
