The Genomic Revolution and the Future of Medicine and Health

Rick Klausner, M.D.
Managing Director
The Column Group

The changes that can be expected in medicine and public health over the next several decades will be enormous and consist of accelerated, incremental, and disruptive changes. Driven by new technologies related to the genomic revolution these changes will result in a more individualized approach to what has been referred to as "personalized medicine". The arenas of most profound change that will be discussed include: Individual risk profiling based on genetic variations; early detection and intervention in disease and disease processes that move treatment towards prevention; the way drugs are developed, marketed and used; "Regenerative medicine"; "Enhancement medicine"; and "Vaccinology".

Advance registration for this lecture is requested as seating is limited. See http://www.case.edu/events/ford/ for details.
