TRANSLATIONAL RESEARCH IN TISSUE REGENERATION: ENGINEERING 3D SCAFFOLDS

Precise control of porosity and internal pore architecture is necessary to maximize nutrient diffusion, interstitial fluid and blood flow, to control stem cell development and function, and mechanical properties in all regenerative tissue applications. The ability to manufacture with a range of materials is essential to control scaffold degradation and mechanical integrity, stem cells interaction with scaffold, and stem cell function. To achieve such demanding requirements, Proxy Biomedical Limited has developed a robust fabrication method that allows independent variation of scaffold structural parameters and materials.
The goals of the seminar are:
introduce the concept of controlled scaffold technology and its benefits/limitations in stem cell research
familiarize the audience with close-to-market requirements in product development: translational research versus basic research
