Modeling and Simulation Technology Applied in Anesthesiology

The presentation will describe On Screen Simulators (OSS) and Mannequin Simulators (MS) used in basic and advanced training of anesthesia providers. The discussion will focus on physiological "state change" models and interfacing of mannequin hardware. The benefits and limitations of simulation in the medical environment will be addressed with examples of several virtual systems and photographs of training on a humanoid simulator.
