BME Student Organizations
The culture of collegiality within
our BME community is exemplified by our outstanding
student organizations. Although each student organization
has a different focus, each organization hosts professional
and social events, informal gatherings, and opportunities
to network with peers, all of which have a common theme
of students helping students .
The Graduate Student Association (GSA)
is the graduate student voice of the Department of
Biomedical Engineering (BME) at CASE. Its membership
includes every BME graduate student. The GSA serves
as a liason between the faculty and grad students,
a forum for vocalizing opinions regarding the department
and University wide issues, and an opportunity for
fellowship among grad students.
The BMES prepares members to enter
the profession of biomedical engineering by providing
an environment for social interaction and exchange
of ideas between all levels of undergraduate students,
graduate students, and faculty.
From the AEMB website: "The purpose of the Case Western Reserve University Chapter of Alpha Eta Mu Beta shall be to bring into closer union and to mark in an outstanding manner those Biomedical Engineers at Case Western Reserve University who have manifested a deep interest and marked ability in their chosen life work so as to promote an understanding of their profession and to develop its members professionally."
Engineering World Health
The EWH collects used medical equipment
that normally would be discarded, repairs the equipment,
and distributes it to hospitals in third-world countries.
The Case chapter of the Institute
of Electrical and Electronics Engineers is a technical
professional organization encompassing electrical,
computer, systems, telecommunications, and some areas
of biomedical engineering.
Case is the home of the Ohio Alpha
chapter of the Engineering Honors Society.
