Internship Information

As in 2006, the BMES undergraduate group has secured funding from CAA for students to travel to the International BMES conference to present their work! This is a great opportunity and it will be in California for 2007! The way to prepare for this is to do a good summer internship at Case!

If you are interested in doing this at Case, start by finding a lab where you can work. Probably most internships are arranged with individual faculty members paying the students off of research grants. However, there are some special funding opportunities at Case and at other institutions. Links are given below.

There are several special opportunities for funding at Case:
• http://www.case.edu/provost/source/: Many BME undergraduates have received funding from the Case SOURCE program. Deadline is Feb 15!
• http://www.dagc.org/research/summerinterninfo.asp: Do research associated with Diabetes! 10 internships are available in Cleveland!
• http://www.nsf.gov/funding/pgm_summ.jsp?pims_id=5517&from=fund: NSF REU program is a network of university groups around the country offering internships. Case BME recently received an REU award. Check it out! Apply on line for the Case program at http://bme.case.edu/reu/.
• http://www.hhmi.org/grants/reports/pgmprof/main: Howard Hughes Medical Institute sponsors undergraduate research opportunities around the country. Case has one of these awards.
• Many BME students have received funding for projects in the past! The Case program is called SPUR, http://www.cwru.edu/artsci/biol/hhmi/spur.htm
