I am attaching adamantane, which interacts with cyclodextrin, to heparin so that surfaces with cyclodextrin attached can be loaded with heparin. Once this heparin is degraded, more can be attached to the surface by way of the adamantane-cyclodextrin interactions. I am also collaborating with Dr.Thomas Gray's lab in the Chemistry Department to synthesize gold(I) containing dendrimers to investigate their ability to induce apoptosis in cells.
