Who is involved with the CCTIP?

The CCTIP is a partnership lead by an executive committee:
• Patrick Crago, program director
• Hunter Peckham, program co-director
• Mary E. Garrity-Moses, director
• Joseph Jankowsi, Vice President of the Technology Transfer Office

The CCTIP is overseen by an internal oversight committee (IOC) comprised of:

• Dr. Robert Daroff, Co-Director, Neurological Institute at UH & Interim Chair, Neurology

The director of the CCTIP, Mary E. Garrity-Moses is a graduate of the Case Western Reserve University, Weatherhead School of Business Executive MBA program and provides expert guidance to teams of BME primary faculty and clinical collaborators as they pursue the path of translation of innovative biomedical technologies to industry. Mary has years of experience in the process of translational research through her work in the department of Neurosurgery at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.

What are the CCTIP requirements for submitting a proposal?

• Co-PI 1 is a permanent, full-time, tenure track BME faculty
• Co-PI 2 is a clinician scientist with patient responsibilities
• The research must be translational
• The intellectual property landscape must not be saturated

Other considerations for the BME faculty co-PI:
• Is the research translational?
• Is it based on sound scientific principles?
• Is the plan feasible?
• Are the milestones appropriate?
• Is the project scale appropriate for the amount of funding?

Other considerations for the clinician co-PI:
• Does the clinical member have patient contact?
• Does the clinician contribute effectively and substantially?
• Does the project address a clinical need that is an unmet need, under met need, or improved method?

Other translational research considerations:
• Is a Product endpoint identified?
• What is its Intellectual Property (IP) potential?
• What is the market landscape?
• What is the regulatory landscape?
• What is the timeframe for realization?
• What is the potential for follow-on funding?
