- Check out the company’s products. This is a great way to get to know more about what the company does.
- Go into the section that says news or press releases. This is helpful in learning what research the company is doing, how profitable they might be, etc. Additionally, sometimes you can get contact names this way. For example, “Our product is going to revolutionize the medical device industry,” said John Smith, Vice President of R&D.
- Contact people. Try to first find a person in research and development, product development, engineering, or some technical area, such as VP or Director of biomaterials. Only look for a human resources contact if you cannot find anyone else. Where can you find contact people? News or press releases, or sometimes a company has a section under about us called management or our team. Additionally, if the company is privately held, you should look under the investor relations or about us section. Sometimes this is listed as People, Management, Our Team, etc. If they give bios on each person, it is helpful to read these as well. First, you may find out other companies at which they worked. This could be further leads for you. Additionally, if you come across a person with a BME degree, this could be a strong lead for you.
