The RSNA.org website ists pretty much every medical imaging company that is doing business in North America by category.  Also, if you click on a company it provides a wealth of knowledge about what they do and where they are located.  You can usually also find an e-mail address and website.

www.biomat.net:  A great resource for biomaterials students.  Check out the industry link.  It is a great way to get leads on companies.  There is also information on funding, articles, books, meetings, links, etc.  They give some helpful information for biomaterial students.

www.medicalalley.org:  Medical Alley is a non-profit trade association to support Minnesota's health care industry.  If you want to find a company in Minnesota, this is a great resource.  Click on member list to see all the companies.

www.medzilla.com:  A national job search site that focuses on employers and professionals in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, healthcare and science.  This is a great site.  I have seen many postings of companies that I am working with listed on here.  I have seen full-time positions at every level (BS, MS, PhD), as well as post-docs and even one internship!  You can also post your resume, find a “headhunter,” or read some articles.

https://www.orau.com/bme/student/login.asp:  This link is to the Biomedical Engineering Alliance for Industrial Internships.  This is an alliance of universities with BME internship programs.  Our department is a part of this alliance.  You may go into this site and complete an application (kind of like an online resume).  Companies that are looking for students may search through the available applications for a suitable match.  I can also work with you on running some matches of companies.  Currently, I have relationships established with the majority of companies who are in here.  However, I think it is another tool to add to your search process.

www.careerboard.com:  A local job search web site, which covers Northeast Ohio; Cincinnati, Ohio; Columbus, Ohio; and Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  You can search for positions this way.  However, it is also helpful just to read the posting for BME positions to source companies or get a flavor for the type of positions that are available.

www.hoovers.com:  Say you are reading an article in a journal and you come across a company whose research or products sounds interesting to you.  However, you do not have any contact information.  You can use this site to look them up.  Under the search section at the top, use the drop down area in the to select search “the Whole Site,” and then tab over and type in the company’s name.  They might not be in there.  However, if you do get some hits, scroll down until you see the company’s name followed by the word “capsule.”  Click on this link.  The company name, address, phone number and web site will show up.  Additionally, it provides a brief easily understandable overview of the company.  You will also notice right below the overview it lists the top three competitors, so now you have more prospective companies to research.  I also found this to be helpful because some company web sites are put together pretty poorly and this site gave me a very simple overview.
